Wu Di, from Beijing Institute of Technology, China

February 6, 2012 ( Monday )

Today is the Lantern Festival. I was surprised that very few people in Hong Kong prepared for Tangyuan (or glutinous rice ball) —the traditional Chinese food—on the Lantern Festival. My friends and I made some Tangyuan and invited local and non-local students to share. Afterwards, we made hot pot ourselves. What is special is that we bought some special sauce we had in Beijing and were tasted different but good. We spent the night together and have a lot of fun.

February 7, 2012 ( Tuesday )

Today we decided on getting a few dishes to share between us. We had a big meal tonight even though the dishes did not look good. It’s likely that our chef has used an excessive amount of sauces and made the dishes turn black. Most importantly, I learnt to make 2 new dishes that evening - one in cabbage and the other dish with cauliflower. I also made fried eggs which was a popular dish. I felt I have made an accomplishment tonight!

I think the facilities in our residential hall are fascinating — we have gym room; computer room; common rooms with an oven; piano room; and a billiard room. Tonight my friends and I played billiard in our hall and we formed two teams composed of female and male students. Although we looked like a weaker team but we have actually defeated our opponents and won the game! We were so excited!!!

February 9, 2012 ( Thursday )

Tonight my friends and I went to Lan Kwai Fong to see the liveliest place of Hong Kong. We hanged out with each other and chatted in a bar. We met a lot of foreigners who came from around the world and listened to their New Year wishes. Most of them have indicated interest to visit Mainland China and I have recommended them to visit Sichuan and Yunnan – the two beautiful, amazing, exciting and special wonderlands. I would say Mainland China is like a mysterious country with long history. I am so proud of our history and traditions.

February 10, 2012 ( Friday )

The residents of our hall gathered in Multi-function Hall A of Student Residence for housewarming party tonight. We formed two circles and introduced ourselves to each other when the music stopped. We played a lot of games, have fun and took group photos together. I was able to make friends from different nationalities! I truly enjoyed the night!
