Last week, from Thursday to Sunday, my whole family came visit me. I took them to a lot of places, Mong Kok, Stanley Market, The Victoria’s Peak, Causeway Bay and so on. Hong Kong has a lot of things to do, and so much to EAT! Evetually, my eagerness made my family really tired, but we spent our happy time here. Also luckily, my family was able to spend our precious time at the guesthouse up on hall 2. Thank you City U, I was able to make a really good memory in Hong Kong !

Every Tuesday, I go to Hung Hom Primary School to teach the children, as a part of the City U Empowerment Project.

I love my colleagues, love the children, and love bonding with them. The little angels fill my life up.

Today I have class from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm. Because I’ve had a long vacation with my family, I had a lot of work to catch up today. As a result, I couldn’t join my friends to Oktoberfest at Tsim Sha Tsui.. Had to sadly climb back in to my residence, carrying my heavy laptop.

Now our big group work is coming to its end! One of the big courses I’m taking in City-U is “Business Environment in China”. The coursework is to write a business plan in China, which is very interesting, but it also requires creativity and articulate knowledge at the same time.

My group is fun to work with, because we all come from different backgrounds. Tommy is from Texas, US, and Kelvin from Hong Kong, and Tine is from Denmark, and I’m from Korea. Yay, Group 7 rocks!

Today, I finally got to get some relax. With my close friends, we went out to have dinner at Nam Shan Estate, nearby our residence. Joseph is my local friend who knows nice diners in Hong Kong. During our dinner-out, we discovered that we had three birthdays in our group. Hannah, Swee and May Yuk’s birthday was all within last week. So we went to have some desert at Prince Edward, and we happy-birthday-ed them with traditional Chinese peach buns. They say Chinese eat it on birthdays.

Today is really hot. I hate the weather of HK because it is always as hot as the summer of Beijing even through is already the end of October! It’s cool in Beijing now. I miss the autumn of Beijing with falling of leaves and large wind.

Last weekend I want to Hainan province to see my boy friend. Hainan province is also very hot now. It is a nice place and has a lot of fruit and delicious food to eat. Hainan chicken rice is very famous and the typical of Chinese food, this time I eat it and it is tasty! I love it very much! I have also eaten Hainan chicken rice in HK for many times, it’s also very tasty. In mainland China, at least in the north of china, we seldom eat this kind of food.

Today I didn't have class, so I went to Sham Sui Po with my friend, who is also an exchange student from Nankai University. He said he was now the way to Sham Sui Po, so we walked there without taking MTR. When we arrived here, it was already 7:00 p.m.

There were many people and many different kinds of restaurant. He found from the Internet that there has the oldest shop that selling Bo zai cake of HK. We bought two kinds of it, the white one and the yellow one. But they taste similar and don’t have any special taste except sweet. Then we went to a shop besides street that selling Ge zai bing and fish balls just as the shops that are popular in Mong Kwok. We ate Fish balls and sleeve-fish. Since my hometown is Weihai, Shandong Province, which is also a near sea city, I think the seafood such as fish, clam and sleeve-fish of HK as not as tasty as my hometown.

Today I have a lot of course because in Monday and Tuesday I nearly have no class. I get up at 7:30 a.m. because I have class at 8:30 a.m.; it is really a hard work for me!

As I observed, the instructors of CityU are more friendly and kind than instructors of my home university. Because in mainland China, we have been told that we have to respect teachers very much since we are in kindergarten. So in our mind, it is difficult to be friend with teachers.

In the afternoon, I cooked the meal for myself. I stewed some noodles with vegetables, egg and chicken wings. It is very tasty because it is made by me. In my home university, we don’t have common room and it is very cheap and convenient to have dinner at dining hall so it’s no need to cook by ourselves. But I think it is a good thing for me to learn how to cook in HK because I don’t have chance to cook in Beijing.

Thursday, 30 October 2008

Last night I didn’t sleep very well because some residences of my floor were decorating our wall between 0:00 and 3:00 this morning and they were very noisy. The topic of decorating is Super Mario, a famous game that nearly every one of us has played.

In HK, people tend to sleep very late. It is often very noisy at midnight so I think HK people are really energetic. In my home university, we don’t have electric at 11:00 p.m. of weekdays so it is good for us to be used to sleep early and get up early, I think it is good for our health even though it causes some inconvenience sometime.

And also, in HK we have more activities in-hall. In mainland China, dormitory is just a place to sleep and live in, while in HK, residence treat dorm room as a home. Everyone will see hello when encountered with others. But it also causes some inconvenience because the noises will disturb other residences.

The last class of this week ended at 12:30pm, the weekend comes! I go to Sham Sui Po with 2 of my friends to find tasty food.

I remembered that Sham Sui Po has a street where many restaurants were located, but we couldb't bear hunger before we find that street. So we entered the first restaurant we saw. We tried a kind of rice that put in to coconut shell with some seafood, it looked as good as it tasted! But I forgot to take a photo before we ate it up because I was too hungry!

After have a nice dinner, we took a walk. There were many shops in Sham Sui Po that sell clothes, but the clothes were old style and we didn't like them. So none of us bought anything.
We saw a cake shop, even though I was full, I bought 2 egg Tarts because it smelled great and still hot! They were very tasty. It was really a nice dinner with great dessert!
